PHILIPSBURG - Female suspect L.O. was arrested Tuesday afternoon at the Marcus Building on Cannegieter Street, following a raid carried out at her office by the Kingdom detective cooperation team RST as part of an investigation into fraud at local construction company Liccom.
Prosecutor Johan de Vrieze confirmed the suspect’s arrest and said she was being detained as part of a continued investigation into possible fraudulent activities on Liccom’s part.
The woman was sitting inside the office, which operates as a job placement agency, when the detectives entered. Shortly after they entered they exited carrying several boxes containing administration documents from the company.
It is not yet clear what her exact involvement is in the Liccom investigation and authorities are tight-lipped. The investigation into Liccom was made public when a raid was carried out at its Madame Estate office late last year. Since then authorities have stated that similar operations were carried out at business places and homes of persons associated with the company in the Netherlands.
While authorities have confirmed that they are investigating possible fraud, they have declined to comment on the sum of money involved and the nature of the allegedly fraudulent transaction(s).
