Members fill three rooms at the Wyndham
ORANJESTAD - “And today dear members, Aruba needs us all. Our country is in a financial crisis. Our people are suffering because of the policy measures. Our security and peace are vanishing under a wave of crime. Our future is insecure, without an adequate control on how many hotels our people and our island can still have” were some of the words of AVP Leader Mike Eman during his speech at the Congress 2005 which was held in the Wyndham Aruba Beach Resort Spa & Casino Ballroom over the week-end.
“In the meantime politics is confronting big problems. An election is a contract between a voter and a party, where the voter expressed confidence and the party has the obligation to do its utmost to comply with the confidence.
Election is not something and Government another. Election is the expression of our intentions, our plans, our willingness, and our character with which we have to comply. Government is not a trick. Governing is when you fight with your soul, heart and conscience, to comply with the confidence, honesty, rightfulness and character that you have committed to. Order cannot become persecution and vengeance. Prosperity is not what you give to families and friends. You cannot say that you will reduce the AZV premium and you turn around and increase it. You cannot say that you will improve the medicine package and you turn around and delete medicine from the positive list.
You cannot say that you will re-open Air Aruba and you turn around and cut the last aircraft to pieces. You cannot say that Aruba needs balanced growth and you turn around and build a hotel on the last piece of public beach; import more people into a population that is already under pressure; bring more traffic jams; more problems for our schools; more crime; and more problems for AZV. You cannot promise financial stability and you turn around and guide Aruba into a financial crisis just to please families and friends. Aruba and our people deserve better.
Prosperity is the opportunity that you give to the people, to the workers, the attention that you give to the elderly, the care that you give to the sick, the schools that you offer to our children, the stimulation that you give to investors, and the support that you give to the less fortunate.
The Aruba dream must become reality for all that wish to work to reach it; opportunity for all and responsibility for all. This is the foundation of Plan Aruba, the plan of a new generation. The Plan has been discussed and its feasibility investigated. Based on this plan a new AVP Government can immediately work on the solution of Aruba’s challenges” said Mike Eman.
