ORLANDO, FL. - The Orlando Carnival Association has embarked on an aggressive campaign for sponsors of the 2005 carnival to be held Memorial weekend, says OCA director of operations Mervyn Johnson. "The Orlando Carnival Association is in contact with a number of potential sponsors of this year's event. We are also open to discussion with an independent movie producer or television station about the rights to filming the event for production of a documentary," Johnson said. He explained that the OCA was determined to ensure a bigger and better carnival this year and had devised various categories of sponsorships for large, medium and small businesses. "Thousands of people come to Orlando for carnival in addition to thousands more from the Central Florida area that participate. This is a perfect opportunity for sponsors to reach a captured audience of young and middle aged people," he explained. Sponsorship, he added, would be also one way of supporting and promoting Caribbean culture in Central Florida. The OCA has developed a draft business plan for the event and is currently fine tuning the plan to ensure a cost efficient and effective event, Johnson assured.
