PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten - The Census Office would like to inform the general public that family tree services are available at the office.
According to Leona Romeo-Marlin, Head of the Civil Registry, also known as the Census Office, “A family tree is a declaration from our office that shows the descendants of a particular person. This is limited, however, to the information registered in our office.”
The family tree is commonly used to determine one’s lineage or to prove the legal heirs of an undivided property. As well, it is always a good thing to know one’s family and historical lineage.
The cost of a family tree is 60.00 ANG or $34.00 per hour for each research.
To request a family tree, submit the following in writing:Names and Dates of Birth of all persons concerned;Specifically how far the research must go;A contact number, and email address
“It is the goal of the Census Office to deliver all of its products within 14 days, Romeo-Marlin said, “however, due to the in depth research that is needed at times for family trees a period of 4 weeks will be needed to complete such requests. Clients will be given a call should additional time be needed.”
