PHILIPSBURG - Commissioner Franklin A. Meyers and Head of the Hygiene & Vetenary Affairs Department, Mr. Antonio Boyrard, visited the yard of the Public Works Department on Monday, where the salt which arrived from Bonaire over the weekend is being stored.

The salt will be dispersed over the pond to increase the level of salt solidity in the water which would help eradicate the Midges and their eggs.

Commissioner Meyers indicated to G.I.S. that "there is a lot of salt (some 100, 000 kilos) so it will not only enable them to treat the pond now but also treat it in the future."

The salt will be placed in smaller bags and submerged into the pond where the natural flow of the water can dissolve it.

The dispersing of the salt will start at the most infected areas namely the area(s) across from the former Van Drop building going down to the roundabout at A.T. Illidge Road.

While on site, Boyrard indicated that arrangements are presently being made and dispersing of the salt will take place shortly.
