Over 45,000 Land Titles Ready For Delivery

MONTEGO BAY (JIS) -- The Government is moving to distribute over 45,000 certificates of title which are ready for delivery to property holders, islandwide.

KINGSTON (JIS) -- State Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Hon. Arnaldo Brown, says the Government is prepared to assist, in whatever way possible, in facilitating local investors interested in exploring and tapping into business opportunities anticipated to materialise in Cuba, consequent on the United States’ re-establishment of diplomatic relations with that country.

MONTEGO BAY (JIS) -- The Dumfries Primary School in St. James walked away with the championship trophy at a literacy fair staged yesterday (Jan. 15) by the Adelphi Community Development Cluster.

KINGSTON (JIS) -- This year’s sitting of the Grade Four Literacy and Numeracy Tests has been pushed back to June 30 and July 1 to make up for the time lost in September and October, due to the impact of the Chikungunya virus (ChikV). 

KINGSTON (JIS) -- Beginning next month, 26 extension officers from the Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) will be trained in greenhouse production techniques.

KINGSTON (JIS) -- Science, Technology, Energy and Mining Minister, Hon. Phillip Paulwell, says Cabinet has accepted a Ministry submission that the Bureau of Standards Jamaica (BSJ) be empowered to provide certification for energy standards for appliances being imported.

New Public Defender Sworn In

KINGSTON (JIS) -- Attorney-at-Law, Arlene Harrison Henry, created history today (January 16), when she became the first woman in Jamaica to be appointed Public Defender. 

KINGSTON, Jamaica (UTECH) -- The Council of the University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech) is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Colin Gyles as Deputy President.  

KINGSTON (JIS) -- The Government has received grant funding of J$350 million (£1.9 million) from the United Kingdom (UK) to support the implementation of the Government’s Strategic Public Sector Transformation Project.
