SANTO DOMINGO -- The first annual “Dominican Republic Golf Travel Exchange” will be held from September 1-6 in La Romana and Punta Cana, on the country’s easternmost region.

The goal of the fair is to promote the Dominican Republic as a major world-class golf destination. TARGET Marketing Consultants, the event organizer, will provide participants with everything they need to know about golf in the D.R. Peter Walton, president of the London-based International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO) is expected to participate in the fair.

National and international tour operators specializing in providing clients with golf vacations, as well as specialized media outlets, golf course representatives and representatives from other related sectors. Representatives from the Dominican Ministry of Tourism, the National Golf Commission and the Dominican Golf Federation will also participate.

Golf Destination
In 2013 the Dominican Republic was selected for a second consecutive year as the “Best Golf Destination of the Caribbean and Latin America” ​​by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators. Punta Cana was included on the list of the best golf destinations in the Caribbean and the world by Travellers Choice 2013.

Also, American Airlines magazine Celebrated Living named the “Los Corales” and “La Cana” Golf Courses on the list of the 20 best courses in the world.

The Casa de Campo Resort, in La Romana, also received major global recognition as a golf destination when it received the “2013 Best Golf Resort” award during the Magallanes Awards, issued by the travel magazine Travel Weekly of the United States and “The Leading Golf Resort in the World” by the World Travel Awards.
