St. EUSTATIUS - The Island Council of St. Eustatius met on Tuesday to discuss the Gwendoline van Putten School and the appointment of Executive Assistants for the Commissioners.
Leader of the opposition Clyde Vanputten stated on Thursday that the Island Council voted to dismiss the Executive Assistant of the Democratic Party (DP) Leader, Mr. Koos Sneek.
The leader of the DP on Statia is Mr. Julian Woodley whom Councilman Vanputten says was embarrassed by his own colleague in the Executive Council with the dismissal of his Executive Assistant.
Councilman Vanputten also lashed out at Commissioner Roy Hooker who he says has no respect for his DP party and his leader of Government. He says that the Commissioner continues to function in an erratic manner.
He also called on the DP leader to led and not to follow, charging that the leadership of the DP is week stating that there is a clear tug of war within the Executive Council of Statia.
The other point discussed in the Island Council meeting this week was the matter of the Gwendoline van Putten School. According to the opposition leader, the school board still refuses to attend meetings called for by the Island Council of St. Eustatius.
This he says is a situation for which a solution must be found on the short term. More can now be heard via PodCast.
