Kiwanis Club, Radio Saint Lucia and Reliable Motors launch the St. Jude Hospital reconstruction raffle

CASTRIES – Efforts in support of the rehabilitation of Saint Hospital have been intensified as members of a leading charitable organisation collaborate with a local business entities.
The Kiwanis Club of Saint Lucia in partnership with Radio Saint Lucia and Reliable Motors, this past weekend launched the Saint Jude Hospital Reconstruction Raffle, an initiative organizers believe will ensure the participation of the entire local community in playing its role in raising the much needed funds to complete the rebuilding of the medical facility.
Prime Minister Hon. Stephenson King, in applauding the venture, says the new Saint Jude Hospital will be an institution Saint Lucians will be proud to call their own.
“Saint Jude Hospital cannot be allowed to remain in the South without a permanent structure. Therefore, while we feel proud of the work that the staff have been doing since the 9th of September by providing services at the Stadium, it is my belief that we undertake to reconstruct the hospital as a brand new spanking facility that provides all the general services and hopefully, to provide some special services.”
Director of Medical Services at Saint Jude Hospital, Dr. Sherry Poyotte, says although the past weeks have been long and tedious, he is comforted by the generosity of the local corporate and international agencies, which has thus far appreciated the cause and have offered financial technological assistance.
The reconstruction raffle he says, is a direct call made to Saint Lucians to act for the goodwill of all.
“This is just part of the journey. The end of the journey is when we admit the first patient to the reconstructed Saint Jude Hospital. I think perhaps this effort should remind us that the journey is not yet complete; we continue to need the support of our community.”
The winner of the St. Jude Hospital Reconstruction Raffle will claim a 2.8 litre double cab pick-up truck which has been donated by Reliable Motors Ltd.
The draw date is slated for Easter Monday, April 12, 2010.
