Dominican Police Throws Gas at Doctors

SANTO DOMINGO (PL) - A police detachment tries on Wednesday to vacate with tear gas doctors of the Dominican Medical Board, who moved into a building of the Ministry of Health in front of the National Palace.
The group of demonstrators headed by Waldo Ariel Suero, president of the organization moved Tuesday into the so called Zero Region, seat of the Health Ministry, demanding raise in salaries and better work conditions.
The zone is surrounded by police and members of the anti-riot detachment and was closed to traffic, verified Prensa Latina.
Suero said to radio news that one of the demonstrators suffered a pre diabetic comma and had to be moved to an ambulance to receive first aid.
Dominican public doctors demand salary rises of 100 percent, better work conditions, pension increase and paid liquidation in public hospitals.
