Foreign Secretary designates Sarita Francis new Acting Governor

BRADES, MONTSERRAT (GIU) – The Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, David Miliband acting on behalf of Her majesty The Queen, has revoked previous instructions designating Sir Howard A. Fergus KBE as Montserrat’s Acting Governor.
According to a statement from Government House, “with immediate effect, Deputy Governor Mrs. Sarita Francis, will assume and perform the functions of the office of Governor during any period when the office of Governor is vacant or when the Governor is absent from Montserrat or is for any other reason unable to perform the functions of that office.”
Deputy Governor Francis’ post was previously called the Chief Establishment Officer. The additional responsibilities to deputize the Governor went into effect on October 16, 2009.
