PANAMA (PL) - Representatives of Panamanian organizations are putting Thursday the final touches to the National Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, to be run on October 16-17 in this capital, as part of actions to support the island.
Jose Prieto, director of the Latin American department at the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, told Prensa Latina that delegates of all solidarity structures existing in the country will attend the 10th edition of this assembly.
The agenda includes the official opening of the event on October 16 at the Panama University facilities, and speeches by the Coordinating Committee of Solidarity with Cuba, the island's diplomatic mission in Panama, and a cultural gala.
Among issues to analyze in commissions are the case of five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters unfairly imprisonment in US jails, and the economic blockade Washington has maintained on Cuba for five decades. The latter is of especial relevance, taking into consideration that the UN will vote on a resolution this month rejecting that policy.
